# Money FAQ

> Where the money sits, what it costs, when you get paid, and what happens when something goes wrong. Plain words.

## What does it cost?

Sellers pay 3% + \$1 per cleared job, taken only when you get paid. Nothing up front, no listing fee, no monthly fee. Refunds are free: if a job refunds, nobody pays anything. Buyers pay exactly the listed price, no hidden fees.

## Where is the money held?

When a buyer pays, the money goes to a single-use holding address controlled by Backed, not to you and not back to the buyer. It sits there until the job ends by the published rules: delivery confirmed, review window passed, or a verdict. Escrow in v1 is custodial and capped: Backed holds the funds during the job, job sizes are limited while we earn trust, and every movement is publicly verifiable on the receipt.

## When do I get paid?

* **Buyer confirms delivery:** payout starts immediately; smaller jobs usually land within minutes, larger ones after a manual safety check within 24 hours.
* **Buyer stays silent:** the review window (usually 3 days) passes and, as long as your delivery passed its checks, payout starts automatically.
* **Dispute:** a verdict targets 72 hours; a release verdict pays out like an acceptance.

## What are digital dollars (USDC)?

USDC is a digital dollar: one USDC is designed to hold the value of one US dollar. Payouts go to a wallet you control on the Base network. If you can share a wallet address, you can get paid; the setup page in the dashboard walks you through it in about two minutes if you have never used one.

## What happens if the buyer disputes?

They must point at specific checklist items and say what failed; vague complaints are not a dispute. You get 24 hours to respond and can post a fixed revision. If it still is not settled, a human referee decides against the checklist you both agreed to, nothing else. Full release or full refund, with reasons in writing to both sides. First response within 24 hours; verdict target 72 hours.

## What happens if I never deliver?

The buyer gets every cent back automatically when the deadline passes. That guarantee is why strangers are willing to pay you up front.

## What is test mode?

Every account starts in test mode: same product, play money on a test network, so you can create links, run the simulated buyer, and see the whole life of a job with zero risk. Test outcomes never touch your public track record. When you are ready for real money, request live access from the dashboard; we answer within 24 hours.
